A bit crippled

Had a minor surgery on the back that makes it uncomfortable sitting down. The pain is starting to wear off now though. Uploading a bit of work for this evening along with a quickie (african inspired) painting I made this weekend.

The female started off as an anatomy study, but later turned into a character design.

Update 2010-09-01: Finished a character design that was inspired by african native culture. Didn’t wan’t to touch up everything in order to keep the “conceptual feeling”.

Weekend work

A bit tired and no energy to try something new. Just playing around and this is the result.

Update 2010-08-21: Male (stylized) anatomy study. Finished in two sessions.

Animal shapes

Started practicing animal shapes today. Studied the anatomy of different animals first and then selected one to start with. I picked the deer. These are some of the sketches. Tried to complete each one in 2-5 min. I focus on drawing fast so that I will learn to pick up the big shapes better.

Update 2010-08-17: Uploading tonight’s sketches (mixed stuff). No need to create a new post ;)

Update 2010-08-18: New sketches. Stags.

Zbrush: My first finished model

First complete model with details. I’m pretty happy with the quality. Been using 4 subdivisions on this one. Now I “just” need to learn how to texture and rig the models so I can throw them into a game engine ;) . Hopefully Zbrush 4 will have some useful animation tools… Otherwise i’m stuck and need to learn Maya or another software to complete the circle.
